Nancy Carney, RN

Nancy Carney, RN has joined BDSRA as RN - Family Medical Liaison/Educator effective August 13, 2001. Nancy lives in Pataskala, Ohio and graduated from Grant School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio in 1972. She has worked in Home Health and on surgical and medical units, including ICU, in the past and most recently spent 20 years working on a surgical intermediate nursing unit in a Columbus hospital.

Her new duties will include working with families via telephone and email on various medical issues, promoting family advocacy, promoting and working in the various programs of BDSRA, including—tissue donation program, equipment exchange program, diagnosis review program, parent mentoring and mentoring programs—along with assisting Director Lance Johnston. BDSRA members will remember an article in the July issue of the Illuminator that went into depth on the position. Nancy recently attended the 2001 BDSRA Annual Conference in Chicago and met many of the families.

Nancy is married to Nick Carney, a construction superintendent. Nick is also in the Air Force at Rickenbacker Air Terminal in a refueling squadron and is currently a candidate for Mayor of Pataskala. Nancy & Nick have four children; Michael, 33; Scott 28; Angie 27; and Stephen, 15. Nancy enjoys reading, sports and gardening.
